Insurance Included With Your Rental
Standard insurance is included in your vehicle rental. Please note that the renter is always liable for damage to the rented vehicle up to the selected excess amount, regardless of who caused the accident. This also applies if damage or an accident is caused by a third party.

In the event that damage has occurred, the excess amount becomes payable immediately upon return of the vehicle. After inspection, repair costs are deducted from the excess and any remaining balance is refunded. If no excess was paid, the renter remains liable and will be invoiced accordingly.
Vehicle Inspection After Return
The lessor reserves the right to confirm the vehicle’s condition only after full cleaning, mechanical inspection, and inspection of all equipment and extras. The renter will be informed within 7 working days of any costs relating to damage to the vehicle or equipment.

Single Vehicle Accidents
Single vehicle accidents are covered, except for vehicle rollovers and driving into stationary objects. In such cases, the renter remains fully liable.
Acts of Negligence (Not Covered)
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Speeding on gravel or tar roads
- Driving after sunset or before sunrise
- Driving on unmarked roads or restricted routes
- Driving in riverbeds (except Sossusvlei)
- Driving through water
- Unauthorized drivers or cross-border travel
- Incorrect fuel usage
- Failure to report accidents to police and Namib Trails 4x4 immediately
- Inability to produce vehicle keys in the event of theft
Breakdowns & Replacement Vehicles
Breakdown assistance cannot be guaranteed outside Namibia. Replacement vehicles are only provided if the rented vehicle is deemed unsafe to drive after mechanical inspection.
In cases involving negligence or rollovers, the renter is responsible for replacement vehicle costs, tow-in costs, and no refunds will be made for unused rental days.
